In the short film JAPAN I work through my long-term anxiety disorder. Divided into episodes, without a speaker, just by text inserts, I tell of selected, striking events from my past that are directly related to the anxiety disorder I experienced.

The text carries the narrative and is extended by recordings from Japan. The recordings function as a very loose chain of associations: Sometimes they transmit emotions, sometimes they tell their own story parallel to the text inserts, sometimes they support the text and sometimes they contrast it giving it a new meaning.
